New grants awarded – spring/ summer 2024

We received 43 applications for grants this spring and summer. Five were approved by the Grants Committee: three international and two UK projects: 

Hull FC Rugby Community Sports and Education Foundation – £39,685 over three years to help care experienced young people aged 16-18 in the UK to develop employability skills, using sport as a medium for gaining accredited qualifications, skills and work experience. With a strong focus on mental health and wellbeing. 

Teach a man to Fish – £59,976 over two years to establish girls’ empowerment clubs in 10 schools in Honduras to support girls to discuss and address their challenges, learn about their rights and raise aspirations. Supported by significant teacher training and empowering mothers to become leaders in their communities. 

Kids Club Kampala – £59,011 over three years for vocational training in two slums for 960 young women and men women in Uganda, with childcare inclusion and strong results from previous similar work. 

Safe Child Thailand – £59,998 over two years to provide mobile education to at risk out-of-school migrant children from Myanmar living in pop-up camps in Thailand. 

Preston North End Community and Education Trust – £30,225 over three years for weekly sessions for care experienced young people using football as a medium, with opportunities for gaining qualifications and focus on wellbeing.
